Betty Boop and Graduation Cupcakes

White Ruffle Cake
Last week was our 10 year wedding anniversary! And for a cake maker that means only one thing: time to experiment with cake flavors and design! Our original wedding cake was a spice cake (I did not make our cake, I hadn't discovered my cake calling then! And I only became a "Baker" that day!!!) I try to make a spice cake every year on our anniversary. This year I made a very moist and flavorful Banana Spice Cake. I have been thinking about creating a ruffled cake for some time and this seemed like the perfect opportunity to test it out! I hope to make another one soon to keep working out this design, I'd like to make the next one even more ruffled!

Corporate Logo Cookies
The pressure was seriously on when I got an order to put a corporate logo onto cookies for a company that makes products with company logos on stuff!!!
The tricky part was figuring out how to get all the text onto a 4" x 2" cookie! I hand painted all of the smaller text and piped the bold part of the logo with royal icing.

Chameleon Cupcake
A very thoughtful PTA has arranged to give Baker's Cakes Cupcakes to the teachers at their school in the month of the teacher's birthdays! Last month I made these cupcakes:
As a personal challenge, I decided to make a different cupcake each month! This month I made these chameleon cupcakes with the school mascot on it! Happy August Birthdays to the teachers at Carpenter Elementary School! Check back in September for next month's PTA Cupcake!

50th Wedding Anniversary Cake
To say that making this cake was a challenge, would be an understatement! My clients gave me this adorable picture of their parents and their wedding cake to work from:
As much as I examined and scrutinized the picture, I couldn't see exactly how the cake was decorated! Luckily, my clients were open to a somewhat modern interpretation of the cake! I could kind of discern some leaves, flowers, and scalloping, so I went with those!
My clients were thrilled with the cake! We should all be so lucky to make it to our 50th Anniversary! What an achievement!
